Kennto

Privacy Policy

Effective July 8, 2026

Kennto ("Kennto", "we", "us") is operated by Vicente Guedes, an individual, not (yet) a registered company. This policy explains what information Kennto collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Information we collect

Account information

To create an account we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. If you sign in with a password instead, your password is stored and verified by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing: Kennto never sees or stores your password in plain text.

Your learning data

Kennto stores the information needed to run your practice: your declared proficiency level (CEFR A1–C2) per language, the content you generate and interact with across the Conversation, Listening, Study, Translate, and Flashcards modules (including conversation transcripts, translations, saved flashcards, and quiz responses), and progress data such as streaks and daily-goal completion.

Voice input

If you use a voice feature in the Conversation module, your recorded speech is sent to our speech-to-text provider to be transcribed into text so Kennto can respond. We don't keep the raw audio recording afterward: only the resulting text becomes part of your conversation history.

Technical data

Our server automatically logs standard request data (IP address, timestamp, requested path, browser user agent) for security and operational purposes: diagnosing errors, detecting abuse, and keeping the service running. These logs are retained briefly and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Kennto does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use your information

  • To provide and calibrate practice content to your declared level
  • To save your progress and let you pick up where you left off
  • To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service
  • To respond to support requests you send us

Who we share information with

Kennto does not sell your information. We share information with the following service providers, only as needed to run the app:

  • Supabase: hosts our database and handles authentication.
  • OpenAI: generates practice content (conversation replies, translations, listening and study material), transcribes voice input, and can generate spoken audio. Text and audio you submit for these features is sent to OpenAI for processing.
  • Speechify: generates some spoken audio for the Conversation module (text you're practicing is sent to Speechify to synthesize speech).
  • Google: if you choose "Continue with Google," Google handles that sign-in and shares your basic profile with us as described above.

Occasionally we test alternative AI providers (such as xAI or Google Gemini) for generating conversation replies; if enabled, the same conversation text is sent to that provider instead of OpenAI for that feature only.

Data retention

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at privacy@kennto.io and we'll process the request within 30 days. Some information may persist briefly afterward in operational backups or security logs until they age out on their normal schedule.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@kennto.io.

International data transfers

Some of the providers listed above may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Children's privacy

Kennto is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
